Esta nueva tecnología supera las debilidades inherentes del interruptor de lámina (fragilidad, susceptibilidad de manipulación magnética, tamaño), al tiempo que conserva las características beneficiosas (actuación sin contacto, contactos sellados). Comparado con el interruptor de efecto Hall, el interruptor Magnasphere exhibe un rendimiento similar, pero no requiere energía y es menos costoso.
Una característica exclusiva del interruptor Magnasphere es su capacidad para funcionar como un sensor de proximidad ferroso autónomo compacto y de muy bajo costo. Debido a que el contacto interno es un imán esférico, el dispositivo detectará la presencia o ausencia de material ferroso, como el acero.
